Mino Ware Ofukei Glazed Dish with Bumboo Leaves Design

ARCHIVED

An Ofukei ware plate produced in Mino during the mid-Edo period. The vessel is thick and weighty, with glaze applied over the entire surface except for the footring. Plates of this type, decorated with surie (printing designs), were made at several old Mino kilns from the late 17th to early 18th century. A discreet decoration of the rim painted in yama-gosu (mountain cobalt) lends the piece a light, refreshing character.

We applied Kintsugi restorations to chips along the rim. One slight dent on the rim is a kiln flaw, covered by glaze. It comes with a box.
