Seto Ware Teabowl with Arabesque and Ring Lines Design
A E-Seto teabowl fired in the late Edo period. The lower half of the exterior is adorned with finely drawn bold ring lines, while the upper half features a lively scrolling arabesque design, rendered with a light and fluid brush. The body swells gently outward, and the slightly flared rim offers a satisfying tactile presence, well-suited to the practice of tea.
This style, descended from the revival-Oribe tradition, was produced in limited quantities and is now seldom encountered. A piece that not only brings elegance to the tea room but also lends itself well to everyday enjoyment.
A few minor glaze flakes and pinhead chips can be seen along the rim, but aside from these, the condition is excellent. Comes with a box.
