Tang Dynasty Gourd Shaped Cup | China, 7-9C


A very old gourd-shaped cup made in China during the Tang dynasty, and is decorated with a cream-colored transparent glaze which is paticular to this period. This sake cup was probably made as tomb furnishings nor daily use.

Similar items are excavated in the Sichuan province by way of example, and this cup might have been made there. The ceramic culture in China, which was always advanced, but dates back to this era, it is interesting to find something that preserves the features of ancient archaic pottery.

There is a restoration mark on the feet, but it stands without any problems.
