Joseon Dynasty Katade-type Small Plate | Korea, 15-16C

A Katade type small plate baked in the early Joseon dynasty. A transparent glaze is applied to the whitish porcelain clay, and a burnt orange colouring stain appears in the centre of the face. It has early features such as Takebushi (Bamboo joint-like) base and a swirl mark inside the base, but the inner curved rim is resembling the white porcelain footed tray from the middle period onward so that the age may go a little later. A glaze that is reminiscent of the plain Shino ware plate that has a moist lustre is admirable.

There are no noticeable defects other than two short hairlines on the rim.
