Joseon Dynasty Blue And White Porcelain Small Jar Designed With Scales Pattern | Korea, 19-20C


A white porcelain jar made during the late Joseon dynasty to under Japanese rule era.

In 15century, Blue and White porcelain had been tried to produce in Korea but the high quolity zaffer had not been found in Korean peninsula and imported from China was high price, so that using a small amount of imported zaffar was sometimes diluted with water, however after middle of 19 century, it could have seen using it more on thier products. A scale-like pattern is drawn to fill the entire area with brilliant blue gradetion, and the brush tip extends to the base.

This engaging small jar was created somewhere in the middle of the transitional era. There is no remarkable damage, and the condition is absolutely good.
