A green glazed jar fired in the Seto in the late Edo period. This type of jar used to be called “Luzu” (the word comes from Luzon island in the Philippines, which was the symbolic term for the exotic mood at that time), it was popular among the wealthy people at the time. The roots of the design are probably inspired by South China’s Cochin three-colour glaze ware.

It is highly possible that this work was used as an Ohaguro teeth lacquering container because the black adhesion is seen on the interior wall. There are minor chips on the rim and the base, but the condition is generally good.
