Joseon Dynasty Katade Type Teabowl

ARCHIVED

A Katade-type teabowl fired in the early Joseon dynasty. This is an example from the 16th century that uses pottery clay. It features an elegant shape, the potter’s wheel mark, and an outwarded lip. The grey-blue skin has a rich glaze drip, and the scarlet tint adds colour—an heirloom Katade-type teabowl with outstanding scenery created by a long-time use.

It has a deep lustre with inherited taste. And fits in a box labelled “Korai Scarlet Katade Chawan”.
