Joseon Dynasty Hoeryong Ware Ash Glazed Cup

ARCHIVED

A cup fired in Hoeryong or Myeongcheon, North Hamgyong Province, during the late Joseon dynasty. Ash glaze is applied to the coarse clay rich in rustic taste. Wine cups of this shape are common in China and Japan as well as the South of the peninsula, but it is quite rare in the North. The size is perfect for a sake cup, and the quaint ash glaze matches sake beautifully.

There is a part that looks like a chip on the base, but it seems to have occurred during the kiln process. There are no noticeable flaws other than some ageings on the rim. It comes with a box.
