Kyo Ware Flower Shaped Cups with Willow Tree Design in Underglaze Iron and Cobalt, Set of 2

Kyo ware Ko-Kiyomizu (early Kiyomizu ware) cups set of two made in the mid to late Edo period. Narrow weeping willows illustrated in underglaze iron and cobalt accentuate the long and elegant form. Willows are one of the motifs that were frequently used in Seto ware, and these are unique examples of Kyo ware that bring together techniques and designs from various regions. Most chrysanthemum-shaped Mukozuke is bowl-shaped, whereas these are rare pieces suitable for sake or tea cups.

One of them has a minor chip on the lip. Another has a short hairline but does not go through to the other side.
