Seto Ware Ofukei Glazed Petal Shaped Plate with Bird and Leaf Pattern in Underglaze Iron
ARCHIVEDA Seto ware Ofukei glazed plate made in Seto in the late Edo period. It has a thin body and delicate petal shape, and the bird and leaf patterns are skillfully drawn with healthy brush strokes. The ash glaze mixed with feldspar has a faint golden colour, leaving a part of the inside of the base unglazed. As Ofukei ware of the time, this piece was remarkably detailed, and the fine crackle glaze covered with deep flavour is also attractive.
A few minor chips can be seen on the lip. Other than that, there are no noticeable defects, and the condition is good.
