Joseon Dynasty Gimhae Katade-Type Teabowl

¥60,000 JPY

A white potterious porcelain teabowl originating in the Gimhae area during the early Joseon dynasty. The softly fired body gives rise to a light, refined form, fully glazed including the foot. The clear white surface is covered with a fine network of crackle, and five spur marks remain visible in the well. Though ceramic in body, the bowl avoids any sense of coarseness; its thin potting and accomplished finish lend it a quiet dignity and elegance.

Several areas of glaze flaking are present along the rim. What appear to be hairline cracks do not significantly penetrate to the reverse. Apart from minor kiln flaws and natural staining within the crackle, there are no notable defects, and the overall condition is good. Accompanied by a storage box.
