Joseon Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Jar with Floral Pattern
ARCHIVEDA blue and white jar from the mid-Joseon dynasty. This piece features a bulging shape with an angled waist and shoulder adorned with floral patterns encircling the shoulders. The delicate and varied brushstrokes, skillfully utilizing the blank space, reflect the craftsman’s efforts to overcome the scarcity of cobalt. The tasteful stains, Amamori, and glaze drippings create a unique scenery, further enchanting the austere beauty of Korean blue-and-white porcelain from this period.
Although there are minor damages and hairlines scattered throughout, they are all from antiquity and have become part of the jar’s character. The jar is accompanied by a box.
