Joseon Dynasty Kuro-Korai Type Black Glazed Jar
ARCHIVEDA sublime black-glazed jar fired in the early Joseon dynasty. It features a spherical body coated with black glaze inside and out. The rim is slightly everted, and the characteristic grits adhere to the base.
There are several methods of glazing so-called Kuro-Korai (black glazed joseon ceramics), and this piece achieves a deep jet black skin by applying black glaze twice. The double application of black glaze is particularly noteworthy, with the overlap visible at the waist, creating a thick, dripping effect that enhances its profound and majestic appearance.
Although there are some minor flaws, it is in excellent condition. It is housed in a box with the inscription “Kuro-Korai.”
