Goryeo Celadon Bowl with Incised Pair of Phoenixes Design
ARCHIVEDA celadon bowl fired during the Goryeo period. It has a rounded shape with sharply curved two intaglio phoenixes. The phoenixes, representing marital harmony and the desire for its perpetuity, were often used inlay, which later became a major decorative technique. The glaze drips on the exterior are a clear jade colour, and the piece has all the charm of Goryeo celadon from its heyday.
Parts of the exterior have a matte texture, but this is due to the kiln process, not the ageing. Apart from minor glaze flaking, there are no other noticeable defects, and the piece is in good condition overall.
