Joseon Dynasty Gimhae Katade Type Bowl
ARCHIVED
A teabowl fired in the Gimhae area in the early Joseon dynasty. It features a thin body with a graceful curved rim and an arched, crater-like inner foot characteristic of 17th-century craftsmanship. Noted for its fine crazing across the surface, it also features subtle scarlet spots, typical of Gimhae ware. Its larger size is unconventional for Gimhae ware and not perfect for making tea, suggesting its versatility as a bowl for sweets or daily use.
The bowl has several rim chips, most of which have been repaired with white lacquer. Firing-induced effects include a matte surface near the foot and a few unglazed spots. It comes with a box.
