Ko-Imari White Porcelain Cup

A white porcelain Ko-Imari soba cup. It shows the characteristics of the Genroku period (1688-1704) of Imari ware with its raised bottom, sandy base and opening towards the mouth rim. It is thought to have been used as a sake cup or sencha green tea, which were popular among the people at that time.

The minor spots on the surface were caused by the firing process. It is in very condition that presumed to have been unused.
