Tsuboya Ware Bottle with Blue and Yellow Stripes Design

ARCHIVED

A Ryukyuan sake bottle called “Binshi” fired in a Tsuboya kiln around the Meiji period. This type of bottle was used as a pair for the ritual called “Ugan” (worship).” Initially, the tin-made ones were used in the Ryukyuan royal family, and later the pottery reproduction spread among the commoners. The combination of blue and yellow and the gentle matte glaze and balanced shape are exclusively beautiful, and it is ideal for a single flower vase arranged with wild spring flowers.

There are no noticeable defects other than the kiln defects and minor chips on the base.
