Ko-Imari Blue and White Porcelain Cups with Wave Lines Pattern, Set of 5

ARCHIVED

Imari ware small cups with an extraordinary design and shape set of five fired in Arita in the middle of the Edo period. This is a unique example in a wide variety of Ko-Imari, which draws an elegant wave lines pattern with a comb-like tool. The thinly-crafted porcelain body, which exudes a sense of skill, allows light to pass through. And although the diameter and height are the same, it looks vertically long shape. It is originally used for serving soy sauce and vinegar at Kaiseki, but it is ideal for the Gongfu tea ceremony’s scent or tea cups.

All of them are in excellent condition with only minor signs of use.
