Early Imari Blue and White Porcelain Plate with Arrowhead Leaf Design

An Early Imari plate fired in the 1620s. It is from the early days of Early Imari that was co-produced in the Karatsu ware kilns. This piece is a work that indicates a development, even the distorted body and the blurred cobalt. The arrowhead leaves design on the front face has been designed as an auspicious pattern in Japan since ancient times and was also drawn on Arita porcelain throughout the periods.

It is applied Kintsugi repair on a chip on the rim. There are sticking grits on the base, and tilt and wobble have occurred. The surface maintains a good lustre and is generally in good condition.
