Joseon Dynasty Buncheong Ware Mishima Type Cup

ARCHIVED

A Buncheong ware Mishima-type flat cup fired in the early Joseon dynasty. It is applied a swirl pattern inlay on the front face and ring lines inlay on the exterior. The swirl pattern was designed in the relatively early years of the Buncheong ware, and the shape of the vessel and the bamboo-joint base indicate that this piece was made in the first half of the 15th century. The well-used interior is lustrous and shows sparkle shine when sake is poured.

The lip and back are slightly rough surfaces but got smooth enough after many years of use. There are no noticeable flaws other than scrapings on the base that occurred when it was taken off from the spur. It comes with a box.
