Hanthawaddy Kingdom Tin-lead Green Glazed Jarlet

ARCHIVED

A green-glazed jarlet, originating from the Hanthawaddy Kingdom to the Toungoo dynasty, Burma. This piece is a rare example and has a captivating wide-mouthed tulip shape. The base features a brown slip, evoking similarities with Vietnamese trade ceramics, though the precise connection between the two remains uncertain. The shading colour tone of the tin-lead green glaze is exquisite, and the opaque green is used on the temple plaques found in Pegu.

Despite the trace of the adhering soil, it remains in excellent condition.
