Seto Ware Two-tone Glazed Small Teabowl with Chattering Decoration
ARCHIVEDA small teabowl made in Seto during the late Edo period. Two types of iron glaze with different colour tones are applied to the slightly constricted semi-cylindrical shape body. While resembling a Seto and Mino ware design known as “Yoroi-de (samurai armour design),” this piece distinguishes itself with a more intricate and sophisticated design featuring deeply carved Tobi-kanna (chattering technique). Its elaborate design and shape not only make it suitable for tea ceremonies but also ideal for everyday use as a cup.
The piece is in excellent condition with no noticeable defects other than minor unglazed spots and kiln grits during the kiln process.
