Ko-Imari Blue and White Porcelain Cup with Iris and Butterfly Design

ARCHIVED

A Ko-Imari soba choko cup crafted in the middle of the Edo period. It showcases a pouty shape created by the raw glazing effect. A row of short irises highlights the blank space, while two butterflies impart a delightful touch. This type of Hasami wares soba choko, once called “Shoki-de (early type),” is captivating for its beauty in capturing fleeting and petty daily, distinct from the more composed designs found in Arita.

Minor chips and hairlines, along with an excellent Kintsugi restoration on the bottom, are present. However, there are no other noticeable defects, and the piece is in good condition.
