Hasami Ware Blue and White Porcelain Bottle with Grape Pattern

ARCHIVED

A blue and white bottle crafted in Hasami at the end of the Edo period. It features a slender and elongated body and a gokezoko (go stone box) bottom akin to the famed Compra bottles from Hasami. While most similar bottles with grape patterns were produced during the Meiji era, utilizing vivid synthetic cobalt colours, this piece stands out for its modest and natural charm. The brushstrokes, applied freely and evoking shading reminiscent of a wash-coloured painting, add to its eclectic allure.

Although there is a hairline on the mouth and the base, the piece is otherwise in good condition with no other noticeable defects.
