Joseon Dynasty Katade-type White Porcelain Cup
ARCHIVEDA cup made in the early Joseon dynasty. This type of white porcelain, produced in the early Joseon dynasty, had been called Katade-type in Japan and was created in local kilns. However, this piece has a feature that was applied in the Bunwon (official) kiln work, which uses grits for stacking, while the local kiln’s works from the same period mainly used clay spur. This piece is presumed to be from a relatively later period among the Katade-type, as coarse grits adhere to the footring. The interior has no grits and can comfortably be used as a sake cup. The white, glossy surface shines even more when you pour sake into it.
Some parts of the lip are slightly aged, and there is a very slight glaze flaking, but other than that, there are no noticeable defects and the condition is generally good.
