Satsuma Ware Genryuin Kiln Brown Glazed Vase

A Satsuma ware vase fired at the Nishimochida-type Genryuin kiln in the mid to late Edo period. It has a curvy body rising from a flat base, and there are tool marks on the body and brown glaze is applied until lower waist. Small ears resembles to Thailand’s Sawankhalok ware vases, reflect the historical influence of Southeast Asian ceramics on Satsuma kilns, which began creating these imitations in the early 18th century.

There are two minor recolorations on the rim; otherwise, it is in excellent condition.
