Ko-Imari Kakiemon Style Blue and White Porcelain Petal Shaped Bowl

¥50,000 JPY

A Kakiemon-style Ko-imari blue and white porcelain bowl fired in Arita in the mid-Edo period. The blue and white of Kakiemon-style is called Ai-Kakiemon in Japan. It features a deep, petal-shaped brim and a fine milky white surface. The interior is adorned with a delicate arabesque pattern, with double-lined windows encircling the well, and cloisonné motifs embellishing each petal of the rim. In contrast, the exterior presents a serene landscape design, creating an intriguing duality between the interior and exterior decorations. The foot bears the Kakufuku inscription, a hallmark of its period. The bowl’s thin, intricate craftsmanship and the interplay of contrasting designs enhance its visual and tactile appeal.

It is in excellent condition, with only minor kiln damages and attached grits.
