Ko-Imari Blue and White Porcelain Small Cup with Pine Branches Design, Set of 2
ARCHIVED
Ko-Imari small cups, set of two fired in the mid-Edo period. It is of the type known as a Me-choko (buds-like cup), and are shaped like smaller version of soba-choko cups. Its design features a playful depiction of large and small young pine branches painted around the side, with a ring line accentuating the base. The slightly awkward spacing and uneven patterns of the pine branches add an endearing character, making it an excellent choice for casual, everyday enjoyment.
One of the cups has a spot on the rim that looks like a chip but is covered in glaze. Other than minor kiln damages and grits from the kiln process, there are no other noticeable defects.
