Qing Dynasty Cizhou-type Ware Blue and White Plate with Floral Design in Underglaze Green
A blue and white plate fired in a Cizhou-type kiln during the late Qing dynasty, likely produced in Pengcheng township or its vicinity. The slightly deep vessel is coated in white slip, with skillfully painted underglaze blue and green floral motifs. At this time, traditional Cizhou techniques such as white-ground-black-painted designs were in decline, while blue and white decoration was gaining prominence. However, the combination of underglaze blue and green remained relatively uncommon.
The plate appears to have been fired at a relatively high temperature, contributing to its lustrous, glassy glaze—one of its most striking features. Apart from minor kiln-related imperfections, the piece remains in excellent condition.
