Joseon Dynasty Buncheong Ware Mishima type Teabowl
A flat tea bowl of Mishima type, originating from the early Joseon dynasty. The surface is densely inlaid with floral motifs filling the spaces between multiple concentric incised lines, while a circular reserve at the centre of the interior remains unornamented. The composition, at once restrained and refined, reveals the quiet elegance characteristic of early Korean ceramics.
The glaze has matured to a warm loquat hue, accentuating the clay’s natural tone and imparting a gentle sense of depth. Despite its age, the surface retains a lustrous sheen with little trace of the roughness typical of excavated wares. The form, neither overly shallow nor deep, possesses a balanced proportion that would sit with ease in both the tea ceremony and everyday use.
In excellent condition, with no significant flaws. Contained in a wooden box inscribed “Joseon dynasty Flower Mishima Chawan.”
