Eastern Jin Yue Ware Black Glazed Cup

ARCHIVED

A Yue ware cup fired in Zhejiang province during the Eastern Jin (317-420). It has a slightly bulgy bowl shape on a crescent-shaped footring, and black-brown glaze is applied until the side of the base. When celadon kilns of Yue ware were spreading all over Zhejiang, these black glaze works were also produced in some areas, such as Deqing and Yuyao. The original use was burial ware, but it is the best size for a sake set. A lustrous glaze would reflect beautifully with liquors.

Two hairlines are extending from the rim, and the skin is aged, but the condition is generally good. Come with a box.
