Joseon Dynasty Hoeryong Ware Iron Glazed Bottle

¥58,000 JPY

A bottle made in Hoeryong or Myeongcheon, North Hamgyong Province, during the late Joseon dynasty. This bottle boasts a long neck extending from the body, characterized by circular lines on the shoulder and a cup-shaped mouth. Uniquely, this piece is fully glazed, a rarity for the region, and displays a possible potter’s mark on the base. The iron glaze’s dull luster and rich kiln effect that simulates a smoked appearance greatly enhance its aesthetic appeal.

There are two small areas with recolouring on the outer edge of the mouth. Otherwise, the piece remains free from noticeable defects or odours, maintaining good condition.
