Obori Soma Ware Cup with Splashed Green Glaze Decoration

ARCHIVED

An Obori-Soma ware Soba-choko cup fired in the late Edo period. The vessel, slightly tall and thin, is adorned with a white glaze layered under a delicate green glaze. Its colour, paler than the typical pieces of this kind, imparts the appearance of a faded blue-green landscape. The well features a distinctive spiral-shaped potter’s mark, adding a highlight to the vessel after use.

With no noticeable flaws except for a small chip on the inside lip, it is in good condition.
