Yuan Dynasty Cizhou-type Ware White Slip Vase
ARCHIVEDA vase fired in a Cizhou-type kiln during the Yuan dynasty. It feutures a long neck extending from its voluptuous body. The shape, originally seen in celadon pieces made for the imperial court during the Song dynasty, was likely adopted by private kilns in later periods. The body, coated in a white slip, displays deep stains that create a simple yet tasteful aesthetic reminiscent of Korean and Japanese ceramics. Its elegant form lends a sense of dignity, further enhanced by the glossy, transparent glaze.
The glaze on the bottom of the neck shows slight flaking, with additional minor glaze flaking and unglazed spots visible on the piece. A sticking mark is present on the footring, but the bottle remains stable with almost no wobbling. While there is a slight smell inside, there is no noticeable dirt.
