Seto Ware Lidded Bowl with Blue and Black Stripes Design

ARCHIVED

A lidded bowl fired in Seto in the late Edo period. It features a design called Mugiwara-de that features vertical stripe lines that have remained popular throughout among E-Seto type. There are several variations in colour variation and line width, but this piece’s alternating thin lines of underglaze iron and cobalt give it a light and sophisticated impression. A bowl perfect for everyday use.

There is a chip on the rim. Other than that, there are no noticeable defects other than grits and natural kiln damages, and the condition is good.
