Southern Song Qingbai Ware Vase with Leaf and Flower Design in Relief

ARCHIVED

A Qingbai ware vase fired in the Southern Song to the Yuan dynasty. It was probably used as an incense cylinder. This type is produced in nearby kilns influenced by Jingdezhen Hutian kilns or in various Fujian kilns. Therefore, this piece has an unsophisticated but lovely feature different from that of Hutian kilns. These coarse bluish-white porcelains responded to the surrounding areas’ demand and were also actively exported to the Sukhothai and other South Sea countries.

Although the glaze is partially peeled off, it is generally in good condition.
